Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
In a large mixing bowl, mash the ripe bananas until smooth. Stir in melted butter.
Mix in the sugar, beaten egg, and vanilla extract.
Add the baking soda and salt, and stir to combine.
Gradually fold in the flour until no streaks remain (do not overmix).
If desired, gently fold in walnuts or chocolate chips.
Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
Bake for 60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Let the banana bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Slice and serve plain or with butter for a delicious treat!
