How To Make The Best Lasagna Recipe At Home

This homemade lasagna recipe is rich, cheesy, and full of flavor! Made with layers of perfectly seasoned meat sauce, creamy ricotta, and melted cheese.

Ingredients
  

For the Meat Sauce

  • 1 lb (450g) ground beef
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 (28 oz) can crushed tomatoes
  • 1 (15 oz) can tomato sauce
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • ½ tsp tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
  • ½ cup water

For the Ricotta Layer

  • 1 (15 oz) container ricotta cheese
  • 1 egg
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tsp dried parsley

Other Ingredients

  • 12 lasagna noodles, cooked
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions
 

  • Preheat Oven: Set your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Cook Meat Sauce: In a large skillet, brown the ground beef and Italian sausage over medium heat. Drain excess fat. Add onion and garlic, sauté until soft. Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, tomato paste, and seasonings. Simmer for 20-30 minutes.
  • Prepare Ricotta Mixture: In a bowl, mix ricotta, egg, Parmesan, and parsley until smooth.
  • Cook Lasagna Noodles: Boil noodles according to package instructions, then drain and set aside.
  • Assemble the Lasagna: Spread a layer of meat sauce at the bottom of a baking dish - Add a layer of lasagna noodles - Spread a layer of ricotta mixture - Sprinkle mozzarella cheese - Repeat layers until ingredients are used, ending with sauce and mozzarella on top.
  • Bake: Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake for another 15 minutes until the cheese is golden and bubbly.
  • Rest & Serve: Let lasagna rest for 10 minutes before slicing. Serve warm.
